BIO
Melanie Nussbaumer is a native of Bevaix, a small village in the French part of Switzerland. She is a graduate of Lycee Jean-Piaget, in Switzerland. She has always had a competitive spirit and participated in sports. In 2009, she became a FIBA certified agent and stated her agency Xtreme Heat International, based in Switzerland. Her goal is to assist basketball players in reaching their goals by bridging and making connections between the US and Switerland/Euporean leagues.

While in school she participated in soccer where she developed speed and skill and strengthened her hands and feet. At the age of twelve she was introduced to basketball and totally fell in love with the game: Her real training and love for basketball started in 1992 and just blossomed off from there. She picked up the basic knowledge of the game by watching NBA video tapes and began playing on a junior team at the age of fourteen, and improved her skills by playing with the boys.
In 1996, as she was staying in Lucerne (Swiss German part of Switzerland) as a nanny, she spent most of her afternoons playing basketball with guys.
In 2003, she started traveling to Paris, where she participated in a couple of events and tournaments. she was introduced to “freestyle” and was inspired by “Miss AO”, a well known freestyler. She started to improve her tricks, strengthened and perfected her ball handling skills.

In 2006, she helped to organize a Swiss Streetball League, the NSBL. She not only helped to promote the league, but she was also the only female player in 2007. She won the 3-point contest. Since 2006 she also participated in an after school program, called “Free Basket” for teenagers to help get them off the streets. She is a very well known personality of streetball and has participated in several different commercials and music videos.
She also played in 1st and 2nd divisions teams in Switzerland.
She loves the game, it doesn’t matter if it’s organized or not. As a young child she dreamed of playing for the Harlem Globetrotters. Especially after seeing Lynette Woodard play with the team.
In 2007, she caught the eye of Xtreme Heat Sports Management, and decided to manage her own career and follow her dreams. With the support and assistance of Xtreme Heat, she was invited in 2008 to a couple of WNBA camps and tryouts. She trained in Houston for several months prior to the camps.
While training in Houston she had an opportunity to meet and do some ball-handling drills with Lynette Woodard for a group of young ladies in an after school basketball program. She also caught the eye of Aundre “Hotshot” Branch, player of the Harlem GlobeTrotters and they did some ball-handling tricks in a local gym. She was inspired by her personal experiences to get involved in training and support girls AAU players. She has dedicated her free time to visit and volunteer in afterschool programs and foundations in Houston.
